Questions & answers
Are there any safety considerations one should take when ice swimming?
Yes, the water in the canal can at times have a strong current, so it is important to be cautious. Never swim alone or after consuming alcohol. For safety reasons, you should stay close to the pier, and diving is strongly discouraged.
Is it possible to do other activities in the area?
We are located in a well-established hiking area with many different trails and ski tracks right next to the saunas. There are also great opportunities for fishing, cycling, mushroom picking, and more.
How do you pay?
After you have booked the sauna, you will get an e-mail with more information. We accept Vipps and Paypal.
How do you get to the saunas?
The most common way is by car. We are located up at Kroken - our adress is Mesnadammen Kroken. We are right next to a large parking area (remember to pay parking). It is also possible to walk here. It’s a very nice walk along the Mesna River and uphill.
What do you need to bring?
You need to bring swimwear, and it’s a good idea to have two towels: one to sit on in the sauna, and one to dry off afterward. If you want, you can bring your own footwear, but we have Crocs available to borrow.
What do you need to bring for a self-service sauna?
You don’t need to bring anything extra when using the self-service sauna. Everything you need to start the stove and clean afterward is provided.
What is the difference between self-service, heated and communal saunas?
Shared sauna: You arrive at a preheated sauna but may need to share it with others. Heated sauna session: You arrive at a preheated sauna that is completely private. You do not need to clean the sauna afterward. Self-service sauna session: You must heat the stove yourself and clean the sauna when you are done.
